funny thing happened today, this lady with her daughter and granddaughter came into Carl's Jr. today.

James was playing with the little granddaughter and the grandma asked James if these were all his kids.. meaning me and the kids.. we died laughing.. then she realized that I was his wife.. and she said to me.. you look so young.. those are your 2 kids?!?!?!?

OMG it was hilarious.. made my day.. :-)

Today was in honor of my dad. Along with my tattoo

that I got, we also went and had a day in honor of him. My dad loved Downtown Disney and the Rainforest cafe. Today, we went and celebrated his life.

1st stop ~~~~ donuts. My dad used to take my kids out for donuts and it was a "secret"... we all knew, but it was their secret!!

2nd stop ~~~~~ a picture in front of the Rainforest Cafe waterfall, then off to the Lego Store and then to build a bear.

3rd stop ~~~~~ lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.

My Dog - is named Smokey Joe... after my dad....

It's been about a week since my surgery. Today is the best that I have felt!! It's beautiful here in Southern California and for that I'm grateful. My wonderful husband has been taking care of me and dinners and my kids have been there to help me. I've lost weight, but tomorrow is my weigh in day, so I will post it tomorrow.

I can't believe that January is almost over! Where has the time gone? I am back on Jenny and I've had some issues getting motivated to workout. BUT, I did work out yesterday!

That was my goal and I did it. Today I have to go get my shots. I can't workout on those days. I had stopped my shots for a while, and it set me back...so I am back to having to go back to twice a week, which totally messes my who schedule out.

I hope to find some time to drop by and say hi! I've found a couple of new people that I follow, but I've yet to introduce myself!

What a strange year.
I had a lot of issues, going to the doctor a lot, all tests came back negative!!
Thank God

I was not well enough to actually cook Thanksgiving dinner, like I had for the past 18 years or so. It's actually a good thing, our city lost power on Thanksgiving day, 2700 residents. I couldn't have cooked if i wanted to.

We went to my sisters cabin yesterday.... They took down a wall and added a room.

Place looks great.

Today, since we had our Christmas dinner yesterday, it's been a lazy day. everyone is playing video games. my kids got James hooked on WOW..

Well, I guess I shouldn't complain, my husband is here, with me, in the same room with me and not out with his buddies, or I'm not divorced or having problems. So I should be grateful, maybe I just feel a little neglected.

All in all, I'm healthy, going back on Jenny Craig....with a renewed interest and not all the excuses. That will start on the Jan. 1st!!!

So, yesterday I had some bad Chinese... needless to say I've been up most of the nite being sick.

I did managed to have a piece of toast.

I re-opened my blog to be public.

Just a little update on things. James was working a lot of overtime, but they cut it back some. We had some work done around the house, spent too much money. I went over my budget, so things are tight.

Chris is doing good in school. He walks to and from school and has gained some height!! He's pretty tall. Steph is driving now and is full time in college!

I'm still working and from the way the things are in the economy I am grateful!!

Slow.... but I love my bodybugg..

Should have bought my bodybugg before I went to Jenny Craig.. now I have to go, since I have so much money invested in it.

I do like the breakfasts and lunches, and have no problem sticking to that.... It's dinner that I want to eat with my family, I mean if I'm gonna cook it, I want to eat it.

I do need to move more.. I really need to get back into exercising again.. I think that would really get my weight loss to really move.

This week was a .4 loss... which as James says... a loss is a loss... so far the total is 11.5 lost. Have to go to the market today and Wal-mart and I have to wash my car.. anything to keep my body moving!!! need to add more activity!!

I've been on the Jenny Craig program since 3/30/09 and today my weigh in is 1.8 lbs lost for a total of almost 10 lbs!!! (9.9 lbs lost!)

My goal was to have lost 16 lbs by the end of May, I'm off by 6.1 lbs, but that's ok.. It's a learning experience and I've got to LEARN how to manage my food, even when I cheat or eat off plan. I also lost 10 inches!! Which must explain why I bought a jacket and had to return it twice, since it was big!!

It was TOM last week, so I didn't start my new workout program and I'm hoping that my rebounder shows up this week. I'm also trying to decide if I want to buy myself the Bodybugg. It's the weight loss gadget that takes the guess work out about how much calories you consume and how many calories you burn.

My daughter's friend has one and it's way COOL!!!! She showed me the website and how it shows how many calories she burns and what she eats. Here is a sample of what a screen shot looks like.

It's hard staying on plan, when we don't have our menus planned out. I still have to cook for everyone, so if they don't know what to eat.. everything gets behind, then I get over hungry and it's never good, but I know it's a excuse. So today was weigh in day... It's TOM and I had a little gain..... not bad considering all the water and stuff you retain during the month!!!

It was .2 lbs. My mom gained 1.6 lbs. We just keep trudging along... It's hard to change your life and move forward. I hope you all had a nice Mothers day. We just went out for a early dinner at a inexpensive place. I ate good, I didn't overeat nor did I have anything bad!!!

My mom gave me $50 dollars.. I'm going to go buy a new workout video!!!

Walk and Pictures

I just got back from our walk. We went and took the dog also. It was a nice walk. I'm a little anxious going and walking. James and Stephanie were with me, so it was good.

I also ate on plan today!! I hope that this will keep me on track. We plan on walking to our nearby track and walk it tomorrow. We couldn't today, cause we had the dog. But I plan on walking at least 2 times around the track.

We are suppose to walk 10,000 steps.. that is close to 5 miles. I was doing 2 miles on the treadmill, so I figure I'll be able to do more at the track as I slowly jump/walk back into working out.

Well, I gained .4 lbs. This will stop today!!! It's too early in the game to be playing these games. I promise myself that I will not go off my diet this week. On a great note... my mom lost 2.4 lbs!!! Way to go mom!!!

My mom has lost a total of 9.4 lbs and I've lost 6.3.. A little friendly competition will inspire me to do well this week!!

Struggling with thoughts of junk food!!!!

So, I am trying to stay on plan. well, I pretty much am staying on plan. Had some sunflower seeds yesterday and a little bit of Fritos with lite blue cheese as a dip.. but I ate my food and didn't give in to the "I want a cheese burger or chips or fries"...

I have to stay on plan. I have to learn. I have to bring this weight down. I need to start working out. I have to...

What do you do to stay focused??? I know that's all it is... I just need to stay focused.

I also wanted to share my newest and greatest gadget. Talk about making it easier to make salads, cut up veggies.. best $20.00 I spent!!!

It seems that I have high blood pressure, but the doctor is going to let me see what happens in 2 months. I will have lost more weight by then. I then am hoping that my blood pressure will be lower. It was lower today than it was the last time I was there.. So, I am praying that I can stop this before it becomes an issue. I don't want to take meds!

I do get to work out. He said I could walk. I'd like to just start working out again. I won't be going to the gym, I have plenty of workout DVD's here at home.

Still a little frustrated, cause we (not the doctor, he didn't seem concerned) don't know why my heart is doing this. It's not doing this alot... but it's still scary. I mean, the way that it beats and stuff, is all normal, according to the tests. There was no abnormal rhythm.

So, that is all good news. I am so grateful for that!!! I'll start with my favorite trainer Tony Horton (who's in his 50's)

Well, I knew that the 4 lb weight loss wouldn't hold out for my actual weigh in today at JC. That's ok... I went out Saturday to Olive Garden for Chris' B-Day and then yesterday, I was totally off plan. I didn't eat that bad, just not on plan... Went back on plan today and had only a .2 lb weight loss... Our weigh in is usually on a Saturday in the morning, but we couldn't get an earlier time, so we switched it to Monday early evening.. don't like that time either, so we will try and change it. I go to the cardiologist tomorrow, hopefully, I'll get some answers to what ever is going on with me.

Well, I just don't know what the hell is wrong with me. I had another episode yesterday at work. That makes it a total of 4 times. 2 at the gym, one when I had my heart monitor on and yesterday walking the stairs at work. I have an appointment with the cardiologist on Tuesday for the results of my tests. My doctor put me off of work til May 11th.

I am either having a racing heart beat, or feeling stressed and numb, or exhausted. I am trying to do the right things and nothing is going right, except for the fact that I am losing weight and I can't even enjoy that, since I don't feel good.

Today I got on the scale and this is not official.. I weigh in on Monday with Jenny, but I was surprised by my scale today. So just for fun, here's my ticker.

Happy Birthday Chris!!! My wonderful, funny son is 15 today.. Where did the time go?!?!? I just can't believe that he is 15!!!!! Next month Stephanie will be 18!!!!! WTH????

Chris was sick a couple of days this week, so we will celebrate his Birthday next weekend. This is how my kids end up having week long birthday celebrations!! We went to Borders and the kids got books, I also got a couple of books, since my reward to my weight loss was a book and that was my reward for the last 2 weeks, so I bought 2 books!! They also went to Game stop and got a couple of games. I think Chris enjoyed his B-day!

I don't know what my reward next week should be... Maybe we should go to the movies, at Jenny Craig, they want you to reward yourself for weight loss, but NOT with food. Of course it doesn't have to cost anything, but I wanted a couple of books, so that's what I picked.

Well, on that note... I'm tired and we have to get up early to go to the market for our menu for the week and to Wal-mart for our other stuff. I still have to do laundry and bills. Not much fun for a Sunday!!

On Sept. 25, 2006 in my old journal, I wrote about Rick Dees and that he was back on the radio. It was a happy day for us here in Southern California!! But that all changed today... the powers that be, decided to lease the station for the next 7 years and told Rick and his crew, that it was the end of the road. I'm so sad... Loved that station... Hits of the 70's & 80's.

Had to leave early to take Steph to the doctors. She has a really bad ear infection. NOT good, since it's Senior Project time.

It's TOM (time of month) and I'm not feeling well.

I had the wrong amount that I want to lose. I have a certain number that I want to weigh and I had the wrong number. I just wanted to document this for my records!!!

Of course 78 lbs is alot better than 83 lbs left to go!!!! whoo hoo!!!

My first week with Jenny

Just an update. I have been on Jenny Craig since Monday. We weighed in today and I've lost 4.5 lbs!!!! Well, the first week we went, they weighed us and then when we went back last Saturday, they weighed us and I had lost 1.7 lbs... I was sick that week... same week that we were suppose to go to Palm Springs.

So today was another weigh in and I lost 2.8 lbs. So total puts me at 4.5. I also changed my goal.. I want to lose about 87.5 lbs.. I know strange number.. but it puts me at a good weight with about 5 lbs to play with.

The program is very easy to follow and since I get my food on Saturday, we as a family figure out the menu for the week. We try to follow it along for meals.. So, while I am still having to cook for the family, at least I don't have to figure out what's for dinner. We do it on Saturday. James and the kids are eating better, so I can't complain. Last nite they wanted pizza, so they got pizza and lasagna from Pizza Hut.. OMG.. it smelled so damn good!!! LOL.... I had one bite of pizza and 1 bite of Lasagna. Then I had my food.

I am still having issues with my teeth/jaw. I have to go back to the dentist on Monday. I am NOT happy.. It has been a shitty month.

The food at Jenny Craig, is very, very good. There have been 2 items only that I don't like so far. I think both my mom and I are going to do very well!!! As long as we don't lose our motivation and don't give into temptation. My mom also lost 4 lbs.

This has got to be the most uncomfortable thing to wear.... I have to write down everything that I do... It's crazy.... I ended up not going to work, cause I can't hide this thing!!! I feel like a damn monster, or a mummy!!! LOL!!!!

Jenny Craig today / results from 1st test

This morning my mom and I go to Jenny Craig. We get weighed in (again) and get measured and get our food. I will most likely start tomorrow. This gives me today to go to the store and get my fruits and veggies!

I went and had the ultrasound yesterday and we grabbed the doctor and he said "looks good".... so, as far as I'm concerned that is a PASS on this test!!! I go Tuesday morning to get the 24 hour heart rate monitor. I'm hoping nothing pops up on this test. SOOOOOOO, at least the stress level has gone done alot!!!! Thank God!!!! I want to thank everyone who has e-mailed me and sent me good wishes, prayers and phone numbers, so I can call if I need to. I appreciate all the support. I don't know where I'd be without you guys!!! hugs and love!!!

I hope to post how my appt went with Jenny. Have a great day!

Sick, Trip and Doctors

I guess it's just not my week or month... Chris got sick first, then James and then me. Some kind of stomach virus. Not fun.

Had a planned trip to Palm Springs for Wednesday-Friday. That got cancelled, since we got sick.

Went to the doctor and he wants to do a ultra sound on my heart and have me wear a heart rate monitor for 24 hours.

Can we talk about HOW STRESSED OUT I AM???

I am still going to Jenny Craig on Saturday to get my food. I am starting on Sunday. I am going to get rid of this weight, to stop all the health issues that are starting to pop up. Anyway, that's what I hope will happen.

Thanks for all the e-mails. I am starting to go thru them and to hopefully answer you all back. Thanks for all your support. I really, really appreciate it.

Today is the first day...

Just to let you know, that tonight I will be going to Jenny Craig to sign up. We had to wait for a ok from my Mom's doctor to start.. (it's just a precaution) ... but of course the doctor is going to say go for it!!!! come on really....but anyway, we were there for 2 hours on Saturday and got all the information.

I will keep you all posted. You can't seem to get away from all the commercials that are out there, of course there is Valerie before and Valerie After. My mom and I both have quite a bit of weight to lose, and we feel that this is the only option. I, of course hope that I do not fail... It's a hard road, as anyone knows when you are trying to lose weight!

High blood pressure????

Who me???? Apparently. As some of you already know, I joined a gym. Well actually we all did. James doesn't really need it, but the kids and I do. So I bucked it up and forked out money for us to go. We were going as a family and really enjoying it. Steph has already seen some progress and she's happy. I found out that I really enjoy walking on the treadmill, with my disco music on my IPOD... great... love the classes also...

Everything was going along, just fine and dandy.. Had gone and gotten a full physical and everything came back perfect, except for low iron... Me anemic... to look at me, you'd say.. You have got to be kidding me... Anyway... James got a new job and Steph is going to start driving and going to college and Chris is getting into the high school scene..so it's been busy. A couple of weeks ago, I had a couple of incidents at the gym. I was working out and all of a sudden thought I was going to pass out. Now, when I work out, I have a heart rate monitor... just to make sure that I'm working in the zone and NOT overdoing it... (too afraid that I'll have a heart attack, especially since my father had one at 47)

So, it really scared me, since my heart rate was jumping way high and I couldn't figure out why.. So I went to the doctor and he told me that I have high blood pressure, and he is sending me to a cardiologist to make sure that nothing else is going on. He told me that I have to stop going to the gym until I see the specialist. I also found out the my iron dropped even more, since October... so now I am now on iron pills. My doctor feels that once I get the iron under control and get the high blood pressure under control, that the heart issue will go away. I go see the doctor on Tuesday.

Needless to say, it's time to lose this weight. Vicky, I'm going to Jenny Craig.. Once I get going on that, I'll probably need your advice and help and try to incorporate WW into my life, if you still will help me out and throw some tips and advice my way!! I just feel that WW right now, is too much work and that Jenny Craig is just a no-brainer.. It's just buy and eat their food. I thought about going back to Nutri-system, and that was just making my stomach do flip flops!!! Gwen, I know you know all about THAT!!!! My mom is going with me. As of right now, we are doing 6 weeks for $36.00.

My goal is to lose around 90 lbs. James eventually will be working nights and it will be the kids and me alone again... It's ok, with the new job, James got a nice raise...so I can't complain... Besides I have you guys!!!

Hi guys, never had the chance yesterday to post.. but wanted to share that James got a new job. Starts in April!!! we are very excited....especially in this day when everyone is getting laid off and losing their jobs, homes and everything. We are very grateful for this opportunity... We also joined a gym. All of us.. long story.. but that will be another day... I'll let you know the progress on everything!!

I am trying to clean up my "den".. which is really a extra bedroom where James & I have our computers, my desk and a TV.. I came across this picture, that I'm going to put in a frame and thought I would scan and share with you guys. We had won tickets last year from Chris' school and we never used them. The kids had the 31st of January off, so James & I took it off and used the tickets that we won. We forgot that they also have free parking passes. SO.. it was a pretty much a free day... We had a blast!!!!! Anyway, I'd better run, since I do have to get some stuff done, before James gets back from the market. A friend of the kids ran away from home. She had been gone, since last Thursday... They finally caught up with her around 2am last nite!! Thank God... she's only 15!!!!! Can I Borrow $25?

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolity's.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours... But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

No Smoking Ban ... over at my place of employement

The new year at work is gonna bring over alot of new changes.
1) They are instituting a no smoking policy on the premises.
2) If we don't get anymore orders for C-17's then our doors will close in 2010 and yes, that means that I will be laid off.

So, I have gmail...as you all know...BUT... how do I reply to people who don't have their e-mails posted on their blog??? Is there a better way to have people subscribe to my blogger???? What do you do???

SO, here I am on my first day of vacation...well, not my first day, cause Sat and Sun don't count... but I don't have to go back to work til the 5th of January!!!! We are still debating on whether to go to the cabin or stay home.. there is snow on at the cabin....

but Steph is sick... too bad, cause her boyfriend is here in town from Seattle and she's sleeping... good thing Chris and Aaron get along...

OH!!! I got one of my Christmas presents early!!!!

The "W" in Christmas

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience.

I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending.

Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas.

My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six year old.

For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant."

I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation.

All parents unable to at tend that evening were welcome to come then.

Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise.

So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats.

As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song.

Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as "Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer.

So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love," I was slightly taken aback by its bold title.

Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads.

Those in the front row- center stage - held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song.

As the class would sing "C is for Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C. Then, "H is for Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love."

The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down - totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W".

The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W".

Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together.

A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen.

In that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities.

For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear:

"C H R I S T W A S L O V E"

And, I believe, He still is.

Amazed in His presence... .humbled by His love.

Not bad... even with the shock value that I felt they were pulling on the first 10 minutes of the show.

I'm excited that Tori Spelling might finally get her chance to come to this show....

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card drawn by a school age kid and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.
